Babies are a Blessing!!!!!!

For those of you who have read any of my other posts, you know my heart for children. I LOVE huge families with all their sweet children in tow. God says that it is a blessing to have a quiver full! Our culture tries to define "full". It plans when life should begin and even, in some cases, when it should end. A sweet friend of mine sent me a link discussing how birth control has altered our culture and changed our thinking on life. It is very interesting to read the cultural beliefs and responses. I challenge you to read it yourself. I hope that you allow your belief system to be challenged and I pray God speaks to you personally.

Also,
I had to laugh out loud when reading some responses to questions asked of large families. A couple of my favorites were:

When being stared at...
"No, we don't try to overpopulate the earth, just outnumber the idiots!"

Don't you know what causes that?
"Yes, we do know what causes that and we like it very much, thank you!"

Enjoy and allow yourself to be challenged!!!!

Amy, when we found out we were pregnant with #8, John went into a meeting where he was to brief a general. The word got out, and the general stood up, thinking he'd be clever, and announced our news to the room of people and said, "John, don't you know what causes that?" Not to be upstaged, John stood up and said, "Yes sir! Why do you think we have so many?"

Oh, and I can handle the "don't you know what causes that" question. The one that was really offensive to me was, "Were they all 'on purpose'?"

Agreed! How rude can people be? I can't believe they say those things right in front of the children too! I don't even think they have any idea how inconsiderate and rude they are being. They can't, or surely they would think before they speak.

When I was pregnant with Chloe, a friend asked the typical, "Don't you know what causes that?" To which I replied, "OH YEAH!!!! That's why we keep doing it!" She then exclaimed in horror, "T.M.I.!" To which I replied, "Hey, you asked!" She said, "Yeah, you're right!"

I'll bet she never asked anyone that question again! ;-)

Another funny incident was with Greg at work. The firemen LOVE to tease Greg.....his nickname at work is "Babymaker". One day, after the news spead about the newest pregnancy (Genevieve), a male co-worker was walking toward Greg and suddenly JUMPED out of Greg's path exclaiming, "Hey, I don't want to get pregnant!" I laughed so hard when Greg told me that! Now even the men fear getting pregnant when around Greg! LOL!
